Vulgar psoriasis

Vulgar psoriasis

Psoriasis, also known colloquially as psoriasis, belongs to the group of autoimmune diseases. It is mostly hereditary, chronic but not contagious and affects all areas of the skin and sometimes the joints. When and if the benign disease manifests itself depends on various factors and usually several causes must come together for this disease to find its way. Triggers can include: hormonal fluctuations, infections, an unbalanced diet, metabolic disorders, injuries, medications, stress, alcohol and nicotine consumption… Once psoriasis has broken out, it is chronic, so it is not curable, but it can be easily treated. Psoriasis is not the same as psoriasis, it always is individual, occurs in different forms and is therefore often difficult to diagnose. The diagnosis should therefore always be made by an experienced dermatologist.

Good to know: Unlike many skin diseases, psoriasis is not a "modern disease of civilization" because there are traditions about this disease since ancient times. The name Psoriarsis comes from the Greek word "psora", which means itchy. There are about 2.5 million psoriasis patients in Germany.

Symptoms

Similar to neurodermatitis, psoriasis occurs in bouts. These attacks trigger inflammatory reactions in your body,

as a result, the immune system attacks the body's tissues and almost signals a "mistake". To correct this error, the body produces new skin cells. This means that psoriasis patients have too much "new skin" too quickly. In people who do not suffer from psoriasis, a skin cycle lasts about 4 weeks, in patients with psoriasis only about 4 days due to the overproduction of skin cells. This skin, which has been overproduced, begins to thicken and the typical symptoms/skin outbreaks appear. This psoriarsis vulgaris namesake is reddish, sharply demarcated and flakes off after a few days. The reddish bumps are painful, very itchy, and eventually peel off from the skin as silvery-white scales. They are also known as plaques and the surface can be easily scraped off. Deeper plates, on the other hand, adhere firmly to the skin. If they are scraped, pinpoint skin bleeding and possibly severe inflammation occur, which under certain circumstances can heal.

The herd can be of different sizes and appear all over the body.  The areas around the joints, the hairy part of the head, the back, the chest, the armpits and the anal region are most affected. In addition, those affected often suffer from oil-stained nail discoloration up to and including nail disintegration. Symptoms may also appear on the soles of the feet and palms.

Additional symptoms can be circulatory problems or psychological concomitants such as malaise and depressive moods. The former occur mainly in the event of a sudden onset of the disease, the latter often in severe chronic diseases.

With other forms of psoriasis, such as guttate psoriasis, severe itching occurs. The spots are larger but appear on fewer parts of the body.

Argan oil treatment

The skin areas affected by psoriasis are very dry, irritated and often inflamed. However, this skin disease and its symptoms are quite treatable, especially when the weather is outside.  With the right skin care you can even prevent a new flare-up of psoriasis, delay or alleviate it. The use of Argan pure cold pressed in argan oil it has proven to be particularly effective , because it supplies the skin affected by psoriasis with a lot of moisture and important lipids. This makes the skin more supple, the scales softer and the substances, moisture and following care products contained in the argan oil are absorbed better. In addition, the polyunsaturated fatty acids and secondary plant substances in the valuable argan oil have a positive effect on inflamed skin regions and, thanks to their antibacterial properties, inhibit the formation of new outbreaks.

Argan oil also relieves severe itching of flaky skin, because it has a cooling and calming effect. The tocopherols and phytosterols contained in the oil cover the skin like a protective film, strengthen the important skin barrier and protect it from further damage.

Our care tips:

- Start with a small amount until the desired soothing effects appear. If necessary, you can then gradually increase the amount of Argan oil.

- Important: the success lies in regularity. Psoriasis patients should take skin care very seriously and follow it every day.

- IS best that those affected discuss the use of argan oil with their dermatologist in advance.

- Sun and sea: the sun and salt water are great for skin affected by psoriasis. Dry, hot climates are best, but hot, humid air can cause spoilage. A stay at the Dead Sea is particularly recommended. However, you should be careful if you are exposed to direct sunlight for too long and of course always apply an SPF.
